Please keep in mind that winter and early spring monthly EFO meeting dates are to be determined (TBD), as well as the place. The meetings could be on Zoom or possibly at the Legacy Center in Brighton, MI. It all depends on the weather. Members will be notified, via email, as to the time and place. Everyone is welcome, with indoor type planes and proof of AMA membership, and a $10 fee, to fly at the Legacy Center. Spectators are free. The next EFO monthly meeting is scheduled for Wed., April 10 at 12:30 p.m. at the Legacy Center in Brighton, MI. (See note in this issue.) If the weather is not safe for driving on that date, the meeting will be postponed to a future date and members notified, via email, regarding any change in date, time or place. Winter Indoor Flying at the Legacy Center in Brighton, MI Indoor flying is now taking place through 2024 at the Legacy Center Sports Complex, 9299 Goble Dr., Brighton, MI, 48116 phone: 810-231-9288 The cost is $10 per drop-in session. Spectators Are Free Return to "What's In This Issue" The Non-March 2024 EFO Meeting There was no "official" EFO meeting in March of 2024. Do to my mobility issues, caused by debilitating sciatic pain, I was unable to leave the house during March for any extended period of time. There WILL BE AN APRIL MEETING! My physical progress will determine whether it will be a physical or Zoom meeting. One way or another there will be an April meeting to catch up with what the EFO members have been doing through the winter. Remote Identification Enforcement Has Begun The enforcement of remote ID for "drones" began on March 16, 2024. That means that if you are not flying at an AMA flying field designated as a FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA), you are required to have a remote ID device Dave Stacer is in the middle chair in this photo Dave Stacer, EFO member and Midwest RC Society treasurer, updated info on the remote ID system that he is producing at the March 2024 Midwest RC Society meeting. He shared the updates and improvements that he has been making to his Remote ID. He had originally presented his information at the November 2023 meeting. That information is in the December 2023 issue of the Midwest club's newsletter. He's been working on more versions, including an even smaller one and adding the option, for the user, of using an external antenna. He demonstrated one at the meeting and Greg Eilers, Midwest president, was able to see its location in the App on his phone. You can learn more about Dave's project on RC Groups and how to order one, or more. Toledo R/C Swap Meet & Expo
The following is from their ABOUT page on their Website. 2021 brought us to a new beginning for a decades-old event. After the disappointing announcement was made that the Weak Signals' Toledo R/C Expo was coming to an end, a small group of R/C enthusiasts (and swappers) were't quite ready to see their early April swap meet shenanigans cease to exist. Through their growing partnerships with the Glass City Center (formally called Seagate Convention Centre), the Valley City Radio-Controlled Club, and the Tiffin Ohio R/C Modelers the swappin' fun continued! 2021 and 2022 were huge successes, especially considering it was smack dab in the middle of a pandemic! Last year's two-day modeling experience saw over 2000 swappers and vendors in attendance, with over 600 tables and booths of R/C goodness. It also featured two days of Indoor R/C flying and an R/C auction Saturday afternoon. This year's AMA-sanctioned event will take place on Friday, April 5th (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) and Saturday, April 6th (9:00 AM to 2:00 PM). The indoor R/C fun fly will again begin Saturday morning and the R/C auction will start promptly at the conclusion of the swap meet and expo on Saturday. One-day admission is $10.00 for adults and women and children (under 12 years of age) are FREE! There will be R/C related merchandise raffles on both Friday and Saturday. Concessions will be offered by the Glass City Center, and there is an ATM located on site. Vendors will receive 1 (ONE) FREE ADULT ADMISSION and 1 (ONE) FREE R/C RAFFLE TICKET with every table purchased! The Upcoming Keith Shaw Birthday Party Electric Fly-in, Saturday, June 1, 2024

The NCM (Not Conventional Materials) Event Traditionally, model aircraft airframes have been mostly constructed from balsa wood, plywood, spruce, and fiberglass. For the purposes of this meet, NCM airframes are mostly constructed from not conventional materials i.e.; sheet foam, foam board, cardboard, block foam, foam insulation material, etc. Foam Flurry for NCM aircraft: This is a true event. It is based upon the all up/last down event of early electric meets. Any NCM aircraft may be used (no ARF types). Power systems are limited to a maximum of 3S (no paralleling) LiPo batteries or 4S maximum, no paralleling, for A123 packs. All planes qualifying for this event will launch at the same time, and the last one to land will be declared the winner. The old entrance to the Midwest RC Society flying field is permanently closed!!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE IT!!!
The field entrance is on the north side of Seven Mile Road about 1.5 Miles west of Currie Rd.
To locate the Midwest R/C Society 7 Mile Rd. flying field, site of the Mid-America Electric Flies, look near top left corner of the map, where the star marks the spot, near Seven Mile Road and Currie Rd. Because of their convenient location and the easy drive to the flying field, the Comfort Suites and Holiday Inn Express in Wixom, MI have been added to the hotels' listing. They are only 10 miles northeast of the field and located near I-96 and Wixom Road. See the map-hotel .pdf for more details. There is a designated area for swappers. Please check-in at the event registration table before setting up. Someone from registration will point out where you may set up. Bring your own table(s) and chair(s). There is no swap meet fee. A donation to the Midwest RC Society for the use of their flying field would be greatly appreciated. To Reach Ken Myers, you can land mail to the address at the top of the page.
