Richard Utkan, EFO VP, concentrates on his great flying, long flying glider, while Bob Clapp looks on.  Don Skiff gazes up to see what is happening.  Ernie LaBelle preps his Porterfield.

you will recognize Jim's name as the designer of the Elipse and MicroSport and as a constant participant of the Mid-America flies.
Remember that the October meeting will be on Saturday, Oct. 3, 11:00 a.m. at the Rushton Rd. field, in South Lyon.  See you all then.

Muncie, for his extremely well deserved induction into the AMA Hall of Fame.  Unfortunately, I was unable to attend, but we all send our congratulations to him.
He also mentioned the following proposal by Tom Hunt.  Km.)
"Tom Hunt has an interesting idea for an electric duration type event that would tend to equalize all the different types of motors and associated price tags. The idea would be to allow any length motor run to get you up to an altitude of your choice. When you cut off your motor the watch starts for an 8 minute max. Spot landing would be enhanced with a 5, 10, 20 and 30 feet radius mark with the points getting less as you go further away. But the basic idea is very sound, since it won't matter what motor system you choose. I also think that spoilers and/or flaps should be disallowed to make the spot landing a real challenge."

If you have any thoughts on this, you might want to contact Bob, or the new NEAC president, Ralph Weaver. Km)

News From Our Secretary/Treasurer
From Debbie McNeely
debbiemcn@juno.com

To all the EFO members, Ann Arbor Falcon members, and Mid-America participants:  I want to apologize for not being able to make the Mid-Am Flies this year, the first one that I have not been there to take care of the registration.  I wouldn't miss it if I absolutely didn't have to!!  I have been having major health problems that have been limiting my activity severely, the worst of which was breaking my left leg and tearing 2 of the 3 ligaments in my left foot in half (the foot which I had surgery on in February!)  I am not allowed to walk on it and I am going to have to have surgery again this month.  I heard the flies were great and I am glad everyone had such a good time and I am truly sorry I was not able to participate and help out.  I plan to be there next year to handle registration again!     Maybe I can make up for it a little by hosting the Christmas Party again this year.  I miss you all and hope to see everyone soon,  Debbie.
