I reconfigured the Conrail using the 16' 3" loop of the Demo layout but still only had a 1 second difference between Step 6 and Step 7. I had pre-run the loco a couple of loops to warm it up before starting the configuration. The Step 7 max speed was 69 mph, while Step 6 was 65 mph. The IMR 10440 size batteries had been sitting around full for several days and were not "topped off". Those two reasons might be why 72 mph was not reached during Step 7. The purpose of this reconfiguration was to see if at the top speed, when the 14500s are tried, the train might come off the track on the end curves. I don't think it will. The configuration was run counterclockwise and there were no derailments. |
