Two EBL Li-ion Universal Chargers, were purchased through Amazon, and used to charge the batteries. Before using the two USB EBL Li-ion Universal Chargers, a modification was made. The 10440 (AAA) size, recommended batteries are tiny, compared to the 18650 size batteries (18mm in diameter and 65mm in length) that would be typically charged with this charger. Sticky Back hook-and-loop fastener was placed on the charger in the position shown to raise the position of the small batteries for easier charging. Only the protective covering is removed from the bottom of one hook-and-loop fastener to stick it to the charger. The covering is left on the top piece so that the batteries don't stick to it. The red lights on the charger show that it is charging. When the lights on the charger turn green, that means that the batteries are charged. The EBL chargers charge at 450 milliamps (mA), or 0.45 amp (A) according to the information on their link. According to the battery supplier for the IMR 10440 size 350mAh batteries, "Please Note: Do NOT charge these cells above 0.5A, this will reduce the life of the battery. For longevity, charge current should be below 0.5 amp (A)", which means these chargers are okay to use with these batteries. The EBL charger would also be okay for the INR 10440 (AAA) size batteries. Very Important Note! This charger MAY NOT BE USED to charge Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) type batteries. The charger mentioned here is used to charge the Lithium-based batteries that terminate the charge at 4.2V, not the 3.6V or 3.65V of LiFe type batteries. |
