What was in the Original Purple Box

The 2-8-0 locomotive in L & N livery and tender
A white molded plastic box insert with a light piece of foam-like material to hold the locomotive and tender in place.
An extra horn-hook coupler
An information sheet.
One side had a listing of the parts names, an exploded diagram of the locomotive and one of the tender. It also noted lubrication and electrical data. This side was printed in Slovenia, but was in English. The printing was very small.

I scanned the exploded views and parts so that I could read them. For reference, I noted the lubrication and Electrical Data here:

Lubrication: (from the exploded parts sheet)
For efficient economical operation, proper lubrication is important. Before use and each 20 running hours, oil the positions 12, 16, 17, all moving parts on positions 13, 47 and Crosshead Guide on position 44.
To lubricate axles, gears and bearings of the motor, the shell is to be removed.
Unscrew the mount screw (26) and carefully remove the shell together with the weight. Now you can lubricate the bearings of the motor, worm gear and gears.

Electrical Data: (from the exploded parts sheet)
Maximum Draw: 0.40 Ampere
Maximum Voltage: 12 V DC

CONSOLIDATION STEAM LOCO 2-8-0 WITH FLYWHEEL

Used for slow heavy freight service, the 2-8-0 was first used on the Leigh Valley in the late 1800's. The 2-8-0 class of locomotive was developed around that period, when many smaller railroads were consolidating, to form large class 1 railroads, hence the name Consolidation. On most railroads the Consolidation was the most popular locomotive. For over five decades the Consolidation was to dominate in freight service and only after the introduction of the Mikado in 1911, the Consolidations were regulated to yard switching service.

The IHC Consolidation represents a U.S.R.A. Consolidation of both yard and freight service. With its flywheel equipped can motor and evenly distributed weight, the IHC Consolidation has the capability to handle any yard or freight service, that any large or small pike might require.
