The October 2025 EFO Flying Meeting<

Saturday, October 4, was a beautiful summer day.

The day started with the temperature in the low 70s and very little wind. There was a lot of beautiful sunshine. Perfect.

The temperature rose to the mid-80s by one o'clock and the wind did pick up a bit.

It couldn't have been a more perfect summer day for flying, except it was FALL here in southeastern Michigan!

Dave Stacer, Roger Wilfong, Denny Sumner, Keith Shaw and Ken Myers were the first to arrive and start enjoying the beautiful day of flying.

Dave Stacer got right to work setting up his planes for the day.

They were soon joined by several Midwest RC Society members; Chad Mason, Joe Havens and Norm Peters.

Norm brought out his grandson to test a rocket that his grandson is working on to make a control system for controlling its flight path and landing. There was a launch of the rocket, and a lot learned. It's really great to see a young person getting involved in modeling!

Chad had his Blue Angels' C-130J Super Hercules out to practice parachute dropping using paratroopers on board.

Chad, Denny and Joe are shown getting ready for the great day of flying.

Denny was pilot in command for the paratrooper drop.

The C-130J easily lifted off the closely mowed grass of the Midwest RC Society flying field.

The first paratrooper made a successful leap. The second one hesitated a bit and had to be pushed out by the third one.

Unfortunately, the other two paratroopers did not clear the horizontal stabilizer and elevator. Oops! Let's just say that what happened next was not pretty. Parts are on order.

Left to right; Denny Sumner, Norm Peters, Joe Havens, Chad Mason, Roger Wilfong and Keith Shaw.

As the temperature rose to the mid-80s, on this beautiful "summer" day, the folks sought shelter from the sun.

The sharing, flying and generally good time continued through this wonderful day.
